Whats the max width I can go on a pontoon style houseboat before I start running into limitiations with transporting and cost.

Right now I am looking at a 40' or longer and 16' wide, but would like to go wider. The only limitiation I see is the transportation I want to do every 5 years or so to a different lake.

Its going to be a lived in fulltime, anchored off.

Also how much are the pontoon kits and the pontoons themselves.

Any information on websites and other information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Don't know Canadian laws but moving a 16' wide boat is going to be an ordeal, I would imagine all kinds of paermits and you will certainly need a semi and crane to lift it, it could easily go into the thousands, that certainly isn't a trailer boat.

On a local lake they have a party boat like that called the Lilly Pad, it was built in New Orleans and driven on water to southern Illinois then trucked in, it made the paper and they had police escorts and everything.

And this is something you are wanting to build or buy?

There si a company called Myacht (sp) that builds boats like that maybe search them for what this will cost.

I will have to now, reconsider what I want and what I want to do.

It all makes sense, thinking of how wide a lane is, wide load permits, leader/chaser trucks, semi + trailer, height restrictions on traffic lights + bridges etc etc.

I just want to splash in Okanagan Lake for a few years then move it to Sushwap Lake.

I guess if it comes down to it, I just have a few 8' wides by whatever for length for regular towing by a deisel pickup truck, then just solidly string each of them together in some form so they are one peice, not two moving against each other.

It's going to be a project for sure, I am up for it.
