Hey Folks,

New to the forum & boating, just bought a Q7/i and the dealer talked me out of snap in carpet saying sand got in it and blew in eyes when cruising.

Wondering if any one had any experience with this, Also curious what the major advantage of a stainless prop is

Thanx {great forums}

A stainless prop has less flex. So you lose less power from your hole shot due to the flexing. However, if you hits a rock or log an aluminum prop is more likely to break which will save your motor from damage whereas a stainless one will transfer the damage to the motor.

Did the dealer have a boat with snap in carpet? I have never heard of his alleged problem, everyone I know with snap in carpet loves it because it is so much easier to clean!!!

I would stick with standard Alu prop untill you get some time under your belt

There is nothing like tweaking a 1000 dollars prop on a rock to spoil your day

1000 dollars even in your money sounds really high ? inport duty ?

$1000 is absurd. RUN from this dealer!

Wow that is pretty ballsy charging that for a prop considering he probably has a shelf somewhere nearby with $300 props sitting on it.

I have snap in carpet in my Regal 2000. When I get sand in the boat I just take it out and hose both it and the deck down. 1 piece of advice, lubicate the snaps. I use bee's wax but some people use chap-stik. I agree the dealer only had a boat with out carpet.

Yep, absolutely crazy.

I'm running a Renegade 4 blade that’s had some work done to it and it only set me back about $500

I think i'll go with timmays advice and stay with the alum prop for a bit, Dealer price for carpet is about $400 & i don't know if that is installed.
I'll get a price from a carpet place first. But i know now that i want carpet in the boat.

Why do you want carpet?

A nice textured fiberglass floor is easy to take the hose to to wash out saltwater, sand, muck, spills, fish guts, etc. All of these things remain with the carpet. I suppose the snap-in kind can be removed to wash out, but I just don't like the idea of having carpet in a boat.

I don't have carpet and its easy to keep clean. the one thing i have noticed is if i'm standing and driving for awhile its starts to feel hard on my bare feet but i just keep my flipflops close by.
