I bought at least 3 carb rebuild kits for my 1960 Johnson 40hp motor, don't ask why i got 3, for almost a year I try to get the engine to run good and I can't.
Now in all the manuals they say that for the low speed needle to use 2 fiber washers and one nylon washer, same for high speed needle.
In all 3 kits I got there are 6 fiber washers no nylon washers what so ever.
It is almost impossible to fit 3 fiber washers and be able to fit the packing nut.
What gives? Why there are no nylon washers?
I used only 2 fiber washers and then the packing nut, now I know if you get air leaks your idle will be messed up and idle is the one I have problems with.
Also the gasket for the main nozzle is a cork made one and does not fit the nozzle is 2 small as diameter, if you try to force it, it will brake, I went to local Menards and I got a rubber washer who fits alot better.
Any advice will be appreciated.
