hey guys, I got a 1992 90hp force outboard I'm woking on right now. Everything runs beautiful and all is well. I drained the lower unit oil the other day. I pulled the bottom fill plug off and it seemed about maybe a half or less teaspoon of water was right at the drain plug. Then as the dark oil drained there was a very small white vein draining with the oil. Now my question would be, should I replace all the seals and the waterpump, or with that small amount of water could I just replace the drain and vent gaskets and filler up again? AS well, which seals are responsible for water getting into the gear housing? Thanks guys

Re: quick question on milky gear oil

No way to know which seal(s) are failing.

Replace the gaskets on the screws and fill her up.

Use it a few times and check the lube for water contamination.

If the is more water, then replace the 3 shaft seals.

If you want, you can pressure test the gearcase and hopefully locate the leak.
Pressure test methods have been posted many times on the forum.
