i repaired the hole in my fiberglass hull from the in side now i want to repair it from the outsideshould i grind all the gell coat down to the fiberglass before laying more glass over the spot. it is preety much fixed i just want to put some cloth over it to smooth it out and fill in the voids.

Yes, that would be good to sand some and layer from the outside too.

Um..first off..how big is the hole ???

Yes..you do need to grind off all gel before glassing.

Cloth ?? um..no.. use mat or some structural glass..

it was about 6 in. in diameter the previous owner fixed it with body filler and glass. i got almost all of the filler out except a little bit. i figured i would clean the rest of it out from the outside. i didnt want to make the hole to big. the hole was filled with filler then one layer of glass on the inside and one on the other side. and about an inch of epoxy on top of that on the inside of the hull. i cleaned all that up and put about five layers of csm from the inside. figured thats was enough. for the inside.
