Quick question

Would it be considered bad advice to mention to someone, as part of their yearly maintenance routine, to check the alignment of the motor with an alignment bar/tool?
Talking about a Volvo stern drive, not sure of model. Is it checked like a mercruiser?

Depends on what drive. Download this volvo drive chart. http://www.4shared.com/office/FLuM0ms8/Volvo_Drive_Chart_1.html

The drives in the first 4 rows do not have gimbal bearings and do not get aligned with an alignment bar.
From the SX-S on for the last two lines of drives do get aligned with an alignment bar.
