I have an Evinrude 115. I just got it out of the mechanics garage, the mechanic told me the tachometer gauge isn't working but didn't elaborate any further. Is this/could this be an easy fix by replacing the gauge. I was told that no fuses appeared to be blown and no obvious signs of wiring mishaps. Where should I begin my search to fix the problem. Thanks

Re: quick question

Check the batteries charging if thats ok check the wiring for continuity.
If thats ok probably its the gauge.

The tach works off pulses from the charging system thats why you check if batteries charging

Re: quick question

Agree. Test for charging. Seems like the rectifier or rectifier/regulator fails much more often than the tach
