Quick release air leak

I have a DT-40 Suzuki that I purchased recently. It has been running fine until the other day. It wouldn't hold rpm and felt like it was starving for fuel. I suspected either debris in the tank or the fuel filter was dirty. The tank was clean but i found a crack in the part of the quick release that goes into the fuel line. Could air be picked up there and reduce the suction of the fuel resulting in a problem? How about if the fuel filter had a small leak where the bowl attaches. When I pump the bulb I get a few drops of fuel at that point. If both of those are repaired and the problem persists I suppose the next thing would be to rebuild the carb. The boat sat for a number of years.

Thanks,

Jim

Re: Quick release air leak

Thanks for your reply. Bearing in mind that I don't know what I'm doing, I have a good working knowledge of motors but not outboards. Will air leaks like this cause the motor to behave this way?

Thanks,

Jim
