Lower units have numerous seals and gaskets - which one are you refering to? And, more importantly, what motor or outdrive?? Also, I'm not aware of any outboard that uses a seal or gasket to "shim" the gearcase for proper shifting - It's usually some type of shift-rod adjustment that needs to be performed.<br /><br />-John
