You guys seen these?
http://www.kwikset.com/smartseries/smartkey.aspx
I replaced my entry door in the garage yesterday as well as all of our exterior door locks. We bought these smart key locks. You can re-key them yourself any time you like. Once we had all 5 locks installed, we re-keyed them all in about 10 minutes. We had enough keys left over to re-key again later if we wish. You can also buy a re-key set that comes with a few keys and the little tool.
To re-key, all you do is:
1. Insert the working key and turn 1/4 clockwise.
2. Stick in the little tool and pull it back out.
3. Take out the key and put in your new key.
4. Turn the new key 1/4 turn counter-clockwise and remove.
That's it. Really cool.
BTW, that's the first prehung door I've ever installed. From removal of the old to installing the new one took me about 5 hours. It also took dang near every tool I own lol. I'm sure someone that knew what they were doing could do this in an hour or less. At least I learned something new.
