Quicksilver Commander 3000 broken shaft

I have a 1994 Starcraft with a 120hp Force outboard. Was having problems getting it to shift into reverse (forward shifts fine) and ended up breaking the splined shaft on the control box. The control box has a 822195-C1 stamped on it. Can I get a replacement control handle shaft or do I need to go completely new? If I need new, any suggestions on a replacement?

As for the shifting issue (which will probably still be there when/if I fix the shaft), the cables move freely when removed from the motor linkages. Any ideas why it shifts into forward and not reverse?

Thanks
Bill

Could be there is a gearcase from a later model year on the motor, and it was not adjusted properly when installed.
Or it could be someone made a mistake and removed the shift pivot screw, thinking it was the drain screw. That would require disassembly to put it all right inside the gearcase.

Remove the gearcase, and see it the gearcase shifts into all gears.

Update - Motor shifted OK with the cables disconnected and controller worked well when the cables were disconnected. Ended up lubricating the cables and seems to have solved the problem.
