Quicksilver controls need work - suggestions?

The controls on my old runabout are very stiff. I want to take the Quicksilver unit apart and refurbish it, but thought it best to ask first if there is anything special I need to know before disassembling it - like, are parts going to go flying when I open it up?<br />What do I need to do to get this original part back into good working condition?<br />Thanks!

It's a very simple control nothing will fly wlihe your disassembling it, there are indexing marks on the lever and rack gears for assembly, the stiffness is probably in tha cables some time they can be lubed and some have to have the boden wire replaced--Bob
