I have a 1987 searay with the 3.0 liter mercruiser..It has the quicksilver shifter..Last out at the lake the shifter was getting loose, which I see an allen screw for tightening underneath the shifter... But it also was a little harder to shift and It was hard to get into neutral, you had to keep moving it, and it would easily go into reverse while trying to find neutral.... Some kind of adjustment, grease, or need new cable????

Thanks...Robert

Ayuh,.....

There are 2 cables coming from the Controller,...
The Throttle Cable, which goes to the Carb Linkage,......
And the Shift Cable, which goes to the Shift Plate, probably mounted to the side, or on top of your Motor.....
From there it interconnects to the Lower Shift Cable, which goes to the Outdrive......
For That 1, the Drive comes Off......

Cables aren't Greased, they're Replaced.....
But the Controller should be Lubed....

With the Loose Screws in the Controller,.... Maybe your Cables are Fine,+ it's Just a Controller Issue.....
