Quicksilver Trim Control Problem

I have a 88 Slickcraft with a quicksilver control with the switch in the top of the handle. I can lower the unit from the switch but not raise it, this can only be done from the trailer trim switch. Occassionally I will lose power to both switches and will need to take a jumper wire from a power source at he fuse panel and touch the center terminal in the handle switch to regain power. The up does not ever work in the handle. A little wisdom would help me regain my sanity.

FWIW, I have had one bad in the handle as well. Exact same symptoms. Quicksilver 3000 Classic, A1.
