I have a good running 60 degree johnson 115 that could use a little extra as the boat its on is a little big for this motor. Is there anything I could do to it short of shortening its dependability and life span that would make it run a stronger. Someone said they made a 60 degree 140 I could use parts off of but I can't find any evidence of that.
AS Always thanks for any input

Tryimg to boost horse power by just puting on parts from another higher HP motor will ALMOST never work.
And will usualy result in a blown up motor.

How good is the compression on your motor. If its below 100, then an overhaul will boost hp.

How good a shape is your carbuartors in. fuel pump and all other fuel system componets.

Is the timeing set correctly at WOT.

How is your link and sync. Is it to factory spec.

Does your engine turn 5600 to 6000.

Is your anti vetilation set to bottom of keel or slightly above.

Lot of things you can do to boost performance of engine without takeing a chance on ruining it.

Good luck!

The 115 to 140 thing was never true and would only apply to the 90 degree blocks if it were. Old information based on displacement alone. The 115s were crossflow and 140s were loopers. Different porting, different pistons ... among other things. :(
