I have a 1989 Crestliner Sabre 20’ with 8’ beam. I acquired some 2” stainless steel tubing for free and am thinking about building a radar arch. When it is complete the height will be about 5’ above the gunwales so that it will clear the Bimini top when it is up. I have drawn it up and calculated it’s weight to be about 120 lbs with radar, antenna, lights, etc. I am a little worried about how it will affect stability. Any thoughts? I am also thinking about building a simple mast instead for the radar but trying to decide where to mount it so it would be out of the way for fishing.

I'd mount it to the side of the steering/instrument console with a flange screw mounted to the floor (deck) and support brackets, 2 at least supporting it against the console. I have super large unbrellas I use in the summer and I mounted a support pole for them in this location and it's perfect for bow seat casting or other places in the boat except for some casting directions from the drivers seat.
