Radio clicks out on low RPM

Hi,

I have a 2003 grew br with a Merc 4.3 alpha sterndrive.

My understanding on how the electrics work is the following:

Radio, Depth finder, other electrics run on the battery. The battery is charged by the engine via the Alternator.

When I am running on low rpm, my radio clicks out. Once I increase the RPM, it comes back to life. When the Engine is off, I can turn on the Radio (and other Electrics - i.e. lights, blower) without any issues.

Could there be an internal switch (relay?) on my electrical panel (not sure of the correct term) that runs the radio from the alternator while the engine is on, and the battery when the engine is off?

I just replaced the alternator and that had no affect to what is happening. As well, I just put in a new Interstate Battery last week.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: Radio clicks out on low RPM

Measure the voltage where your radio gets its power. Sounds like you have a voltage drop between the battery and where its connected.
