I have an aftermarket radio in my Honda accord that is defunct. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it out of the dash.

Does anybody care to clue me in on the secret.

Re: Radio removal

Are there tiny slots in the corners or small round holes? Many aftermarket use a key/tool to unhitch the radio. Go to any radio store and it takes two seconds if you have the tool and usually the store people will do it for you.

Re: Radio removal

I got to looking close at this one, and I think someone broke the original dash frame, then somehow got behind the radio and strapped it in. I see the mounting you're talking about now, and it springs free easily. The frame goes backward, showing broken plastic in the process, and the radio is still strapped in place.

I'm going to have to dismantle the dash, and probably replace some or all of it, or else fabricate a frame for a radio.

Thanks for the comeback.

Re: Radio removal

Might be damage friom when someone "liberated" the factory-installed radio, and the aftermarket one was the replacement.

I suspected that. Anyway, the present installation is pretty bad, and the radio was damaged when I got it. The faceplate hooks are broken, and it has some other tuner troubles.

This car is a $500 clunker, (even though I have about $1800 in it) So I'll just get it out of there somehow and frame up something that will securely and properly hold a new one. I can do the finish decoration with duct tape.:D
