i ran new wires for my new radio install because i had problems with the old wires. the new setup works fine so the problem i guess was in the old wiring. i ran the power and ground from the radio straight to the battery. with an inline fuse of course. my question is should i have tapped into the power wire before the battery switch(perko switch i guess its called). its only 1 battery and a basic on/off. so that the radio cant draw power from the battery while the switch is off? im starting to have battery problems and i think that this might be the cause

Re: radio wiring question?

I would hook up the power wires of the stereo after the switch (switch between battery and stereo) hook the ground straight to the battery or a ground buss on the fuse panel. That will eliminate any battery draw.
