I would like to raise my 90hp Honda a notch on the transom. Haven't got a clue how to do it. Would appreciate some step-by-step instructions, including how to seal the bolts in the transom holes. Thanks

Re: raising motor

First lower the jack on the front of the trailer, then put a block of wood on the ground under the skeg on the motor. Remove the top two bolts that hold the motor on, only loosen the lower two in the slotted holes. Now raise the jack, this will lower the transom and the motor will move up, when it gets to the hole you want stop and put the top bolts back in.

It's easy and fast.

3M 4200 will work to seal the bolts

Not sure about the 90hp Honda, but my 225 Mercury doesn't have slotted holes.

I had to get a eyelet which screws into the flywheel and lift the whole outboard using an engine hoist.

Was pretty easy though. Get someone to help you. A 2nd set of eyes never hurts.

Good so far. Wasn't sure if the skeg could actually support the weight of the motor, especially if slightly off the vertical. Further suggestions still appreciated.

Re: raising motor

If you don't have slotted holes for the bottom two bolts all four need to be removed. That means the engine will fall off the boat. You need a lifting eye or some other means of raising the engine.
