Hello. I have a Volvo penta 4.3GL PBYC. I hit a mud shoal and got stuck. I was able to go forward and reverse until I was able roll off the mud. I was able to head to shore for a while and then the engine started to overheat and smoke. I turned it off and oared in. I know I pulled in alot of mud water and that the impeller probably needs to be replaced. I am worried about the manifolds and the mud inside of them and the smoke caused by the overheating. I pulled the boat out two days later but wondering where I should start? thx.Gabriel

Re: ran aground on mud

My friend and I took out one of the water hoses and clamped the hose down on it, turned on the water and flushed it. A bunch of mud water and small twigs came out and we turned the engine on to relieve the pressure from the hose. This really got it flowing. The engine ran fine with a bit of gas but turned off at neutral. I'm thinking it will run fine under pressure in the water but I may need to change the oil and maybe the plugs to make it run smooth again. Could there be any other damage?
