I have a 1959 Alumacrft 16 ft. V-Hull, or that is what the title says it is. There is no plate on this boat and I was wondering two things. What is the maxium horsepower rating and what is the weight capacity of this boat?

Re: Ratings of boat?

If its a runabout style with an aluminum covered bow, my 15' is rated at 50 hp. 3 bench seats, 60" wide.

Narrower utility style models are probably rated at less, perhaps 30hp.

The Coast Guard rating go something like this 2x lenth x the width -90=hp. Or 15x2=30x5=150-90=40hp this is if your beam is 5'

Re: Ratings of boat?

It does have the 5 ft beam. It was a standard boat that had been modified into a bass boat by building decks in it. I had to replace all that because it was rotted. I was wondering about the H.P. rating because I have a chance at a really good deal on a 50 H.P. I will just stick with the 35 I have on it.

If it's a 16' boat with a 5' beam it's rated for 70hp according to the formula don't know about the weight rating.
