I have a 99 Johnson 115hp on a 16 foot runabout. I had a full tune up on it and now I notice a rattle type noise when pulling back on the throttle quickly. Any Ideas? Thanks

It could be the prop being rotated by water rushing past it.

That will set up a clicking noise as the clutch dog in the lower unit is being overrun.

Does it make the noise if you pull it all the way back into nuetral?

We are assuming (bad deal) that its a 60 degree carb'd motor. They did have a decell knock on some. If it didnt have it before, find out EXACTLY what was changed during the tune up. What plugs did you run before compared to now, did they change timing, or jets or thermostats -- anything. Same exact prop?

Let us know!

It is the carb'd motor, with the same prop as before. I will check and see if it still does it when in nuetral. Thanks for your help.

Did it do this before the tune up? Had you chopped the throttle before?

I never heard it before the tune-up, but noticed it first time out after.

OK. Like I say, find out exactly what they did. T-stats, spark plugs (now and before) -- everything.

Let us know!
