1979 Mercruiser 260 (Chev 350) engine ser #5060620, log style manifold with 6" spacer between manifold and elbo/riser, block off plate with pin hole between spacer and manifold.
I think my Seloc manual led me astray. I have been unable to locate the correct manual for my engine, I think it ended up in the 'gone forever' file cabinet. Have been using the '83-'87 manual and the Seloc.
I am looking for a diagram of the water hose connections involving the thermostat housing and manifold/risers because I think it is wrong. I put things back the way I found them.
1) the thermostat was below the them housing at the intake manifold, not the upper part of the therm housing. Okay, easy to move, part ref #9 in below link.

2) the Seloc manual shows the two hoses connected to the upper connections of the therm housing going to the riser/elbo but it looks like they should be going to the rear of the manifolds instead based on the part descriptions I found here:
http://www.boats.net/parts/search/M...U 6218461/WATER DISTRIBUTION HOSES/parts.html
This link has the description of the hoses to where they connect.
So, I am asking for some help on what is the correct way to connect the hoses. Hopefully someone has a diagram to post for this ancient barge! This is how I have them connected right now:
