Raw water inlet hose

I want to replace the inlet hose on my 1993 220 Cobalt 7.4 liter. I can’t even see where the other end is from the water pump. Disappears behind the engine. Any advise?

That is 1 1/4 inch hard wall water/exhaust hose, and connects behind the motor at the transom plate. Do verify its 1.25 diameter but should be.

That depends on if you can get at it. My cruiser is real tight, but I was able to get my over weight self shoe horned in there enough to replace.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... As AD says, it just depends on how much "Boat" the manufacteur put in the way,....

Some are easily reachable,..... Others ya gotta strip 1/2 the aft-end of the cockpit out,....

Standin' on yer head is often involved too,.....

Thanks I replaced the raw water pump, fuel pump, circulating pump and most all hoses except for that one. It’s the original I’m sure and very hard and inflexible. Oh yeah and the starter (that was fun). Thanks for your feedback

One other question? I replaced the thermostat and housing with the new style, it has these check balls that install in one of the fittings. How tight should they be adjusted, just till the balls seat (light tension) or more tension?

Adjust the locking nuts so you can see 1 or two full threads stick out. Needs to be a light seating

Huh, the one I replaced was a one piece could double as an anchor. The new one is a two piece with a brass thread-in tee, which is where the check ball Assy goes. Should I just leave it as is or remove the check. Engine runs cool at about 160

If your serial number is high enough it should have had one like this new style

This thermostat housing is the latest in the even newer designed motors, which is not yours

Well i’m Past that now i guess. My serial number is OF116263. Had the boat in the water for 3 hrs yesterday ran fine temp steady at 160.
