RDE cylinder cut out

Got my 55 Johnson 25 running yesterday and was wondering what set of events would cause the cylinder cutout to kick in? I might have wound her a little tight in neutral and it started sputtering like on one cylinder.Had to choke it to shut it off. It would start back up easily though. I want to make sure it's not something else before we make our "debut" on the river.

Yep, that's what it is for. If you rev it in neutral (or break a shear pin), the cut-out switch kills the spark on one cylinder till it slows back down.
