I have an aluminum 1983 Bass Tracker that needs the carpet replaced. Along with that there is also some plywood that also needs replaced. Is there a book, manual or web site that I can use as reference? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will trying to do this myself.

Thanks,
Hayden

hbb@feinc.net

Well as far as the carpet goes, that is pretty straight forward. Just lay it and cut it out and use some carpet glue meant for metal and glue it down. Use it in a well ventilated place. As far as the wood goes, just try to get the old off without tearing it up much and then just cut your other plywood like it and put it back in place. Use marine grade wood. If I was you and can, weight wise, go one size bigger on the wood. Be more sturdy and all. Just my .02 worth. Also a good time to check the wiring that is under the wood for bare places and such. Good time to replace or run new wire at this time also.

Well I've decked out many a jon boat into a bass fishin machine and can say it's not too difficult of a project as long as you take your time and don't try to rush things.. Like Spinner bait nut says, try to get the old wood out to use as a template.. If you can't then make templates out of cardboard by triming and test fitting till it's right on... One thing you might be interested in doing is coating the new plywood(especialy the end grain edges) with a few coats epoxy to seal it from moisture before you install it...It will last alot longer that way... ;) Right on with the wiring too... ;)
