re-done transom

looking at a boat that has a re-done transom. would that be a good thing or bad thing? guessing it would be good for the transom but still means that other parts are still rotting in the boat is that right? whats your thoughts on that??thanks

In addition to your concerns about other unrepaired areas of rot (stringers, floor,etc), I would also be concerned about the skill of the repair and quality of the materials used on the transom repair.
If this is a repair done by the average DIYer, I wouldn't even consider it.

I'd 2nd that post - if done right, certainly consider it. Determining if it has been done right is going to be hard to do w/o a shop standing behind the work or documentation (photos) of what was repaired.
