had no spark in coil on my 89 larson.cleaned points,still no spark.tried disconnecting grey wire on - side of coil,fired right up.what connection is that grey wire to? anyone? is it safe to leave disconnected?i'm stumpped

The gray wire should be coming from the tachometer. It sounds like your tach is shorted to ground, or the wire that runs from the tach to the coil is shorted. It is fairly common for the tach to go bad and cause this problem.
