Hi everyone, I have been scouring the pages of this forum for days, tons of great information on here!
I very recently picked up a new to me boat. My first. She's a 81 Chris craft scorpion 210, with a omc 260 stringer powering it, . I bought her knowing she had problems. The problem I have discovered, is the block is cracked.
I have found a rebuilt 260 with 0 hrs on it for $1000. I have been getting the old motor ready for removal. I have the seloct and climer manuals, but they are very vague. From the research I have been doing, it looks as if removing the motor with the intermediate attached is the best way for removal.i understand that I need to remove the transom seal. Is this a reusable component, or should I replace it? What do I use to seal it with?
I am a little nervous taking on this endevor, as I have no experience with marine equipment, or out drives. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone could guide me to any links or source of information, that would also be useful, as I am having a very difficult time finding much on this due to the age. Thanks so much in advance for any help you can give. Brad.
