I've got the outdrive off the boat due to a cracked steering fork. I have a good used intermediate that I would like to replace with it. I have purchased the entire seal kit and have the AQ manual in hand. My questions are...

Re-shimming:
I am confused about what to re-shim? The Manual states I need to reshim the intermediate to the lower(Never saw any shims, looks like they are internal), re-shim the upper to the intermediate . When I split the cases the only shims I saw were on the upper gear box(1 only). I am by no means a certified penta mechanic but can get around most issues with my background. Should I bring this basket case to the local Penta dealer and pay the extra money? I feel I can get this done myself. Appreciate any input.

Well i could be wrong but i dont think you need to re shim it. aslong as its all the same 280 intermediate replaced with another 280 intermediate . Just hold tight on taking it in.. some times it takes a little to get a reply here.
