I guess I'm just going to go ahead and try and make this thing run again. Question is can the cylinder walls be re-sleeved?? If not, what are my options?

From the mechanic - it was due to an ethanol fuel issue. #5 is toast. I've got pictures if you're interested. Not a pretty sight.

years ago the sleeves were avalible, just not from suzuki.
usually the cost of resleeving was about the same as a new cyl bank.
you can replace the banks without cracking open the crankcase but you will either need the fixture for properly locating the bank to the block or make one.
not hard just be aware you cant simply bolt the bank on.

Hey Rodbolt,

So this 'fixture' I need. Where do I go to find one, what is it called and if possible how would one go about making one? Remember - you're talking to a rookie here.
Also, you mentioned the cost of resleeving vs. the cost of new. Do you feel those prices are still holding strong today?

Re: re - sleeve Suzuki DT225 (1998)

wish I could remember the ansewers but I cannot.
I made my plate out of a piece of 3/8ths AL plate.
lay the power head mounting gasket on it and drill out the mounting holes then cut a hole so the crank can protrude and let it ride.
the plate part number and an illustration is in your service manual.
all the plate does is insure proper alignment of the gasket surfaces.
to see about resleeving call Ron's marine and equipment in portsmouth VA.
thats who I use for all my resleeving and boring. have since about 1989.

you could use the adapter plate or engine holder as a fixture.

good luck
