:confused:First, thanks tashasdaddy for response. I am still trying to isolate the problem that started when tilt stopped working and I teased the switches in the forward/reverse and accelerator lever to the point that the alarm started sounding and blinking. Since then, I can start motor only by jumping at the solenoid. (The pump is spraying and clearly there is ignition, since the motor starts.) I've checked the connectors for corrosion and pulled and re-inserted the relays I could find. The technician, in my presence, swapped the solenoid and even tried a starting switch that he connected back by the solenoid. (Incidentally, he got the motor to tilt up and down by jumping from the connector next to the distribution panel directly to the hot lead at the solenoid.)

My question as I continue my independent trouble-shooting and learning experience with this otherwise good motor, is: Could there be a starter neutral fuse somewhere inline that I have missed? (I know about the 20-amp fuse, close to the control panel box that was apparently blown when my troubles started, but we bypassed the fuse box there, until a new fuse can be found and installed. Therefore, when the switch is turned on, the pump can be heard spraying, and the motor--to repeat myself--starts if I jump it at the solenoid.

Kindly excuse this lengthy discussion. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Re starter neutral circuit and fuse.

"the pump can be heard spraying" what pump is spraying? did you verify you have power to the ignition switch? did you verify the neutral safety is working? there is a fuse in the tilt junction box also.
