Replaced the head with reman and after 20 hr your to re-torque the head bolts? Many repowered boats in my area this is never done. is it realy nessasary? By the way the engine runs great I would hate to do all that work to just blow a head gasket!

Depends on the head gasket. Some require, some don't... What gasket did you use?

I have always ran them up to operating temp and let it cool back down to ambiant temp and check the torque again!

That's for ali heads, cast iron heads need to be bought to operating temperature and then re-torque the bolts...

If a new stock merc part, you will not need to. If you got a new-old-stock part, I personally would retorque.
