1983 volvo penta aq125a motor. Boat ran fine for about two hours. Started acting like it was missing. motor would idle but could not accelerate. did complete tune up including plugs, wires, cap rotor, points, coil, carburator rebuild, fuel filter, checked timing. motor starts right up. as u accelerate,motor becomes sluggish starts missing and will stall as soon as you put it in gear. pulled brand new ngk plugs out and saw that they were all black. appears the plugs are fouled out in less then 10 minutes of running. anysuggestions before i go insane.

Engine is starving for fuel ,that's first guess,check your fuel pump-fuel delivery,make sure your boat fuel tank vent is not clogged .
Your carburetor will be secondary suspect,if you sure your ignition coil is good.

Thank you very much for the information. Just did a completeinspection of my motor. First thing i checked was the pick up tube in the gas tank. upon pulling the tube apart, i located a massive ball of crap agains the small screen inside the pick up tube. after cleaning it out, and reasembling, the motor is running perfect again. for all of you who are having the same trouble that i read about, pull the pick up tube from the gas tank. clean it out. its like a new motor again. However i did do a complete tune up also.

What kind of gas tank do you have? Mine's aluminum and I don't see any way to remove the pickup tube.
