Sent this to Auto Zone!!!
ETHANOL resistant hoses and additives???
I've replaced hoses on dozens of boats and now I'm wondering how safe they are???
SO ASK if it's resistant??

I recently was in your store.Bought 10ft of 5/16 gas line.
Actually bought 20 ft./2 trips.
I bought this to replace the gas line on 2 boats I'm working on.
NOWHERE is it stated that the hose I bought is Ethanol resistant.
The only reason I bought it is that it was eaten by Ethanol!!!!
The whole country is using Ethanol gas it's destroying hoses and plastic etc.
Why would you sell something knowing it's NO GOOD!!!?????
Three weeks maybe 3 months and it will start leaking.
Why AGAIN would you sell something that can KILL your customers???
I bought this products thinking you wouldn't sell me something that would hurt me.
Maybe you should get new hoses on the shelf???
I won't mind paying extra if needed.
Now I guess I'll go someplace that sells the right stuff.J

Wasted $25

Something lead you to believe it's NOT alcohol resistant, other than it is not marked resistant? There is no requirement for auto fuel line to be marked.

Re: READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ETHANOL DANGER and the stores we frequent!!

Coast Guard approved marine fuel hose is not normally sold at an auto supply store. There are 2 types, one flame resistant labeled A1-15 that is used underdecks, enclosed areas, and in inboard applications. The other is labeled B1-15 for outside areas and normally used from the transom fitting or primer ball to the motor. Both are low permeation alcohol resistant fuel lines. Do not use car fuel line in a boat.

You tell em jerry. Alot of people really do not understand the negative effects ethanol plays
on our hard earned money or our equipment for that matter.
I to feel like ethanol resistant fuel lines should be added to the shelf, or at least as an option to buy.
It really should be looked at as a safety matter for the buyer.
And preventative maintenance.

What makes you think it is not alcohol resistant?

I'd like some facts on this. Since cars run ethanol I'd think they all are "ethanol-proof" now. I just replaced a line in my boat with auto-parts store hose; it has a "plastic" sleeve inside the rubber--problem? Do-over? How long before I have problems?

There no such thing as a hose that is “proof” to anything. The definition of "Proof" as written in the specifications precludes it's usae.

I wouldn’t worry about unless your boat catches on fire. What differentiates marine hose from automotive hoses is its fire resistance. Note the very thick outer jacket on Marine hose.

Never buy unmarked fuel hose. If the spec number isn’t printed on the cover, move on.

I still don't understand why this is Auto Zone's fault?

Coast Guard approved marine fuel hose is not normally sold at an auto supply store.
And what the OP bought is not either, so it's really no different than running an Automotive carb on a boat. Just sayin' . . .
