Ok this is my last post on this motor, 1960 75hp rude.....it is geting water
in cyl 2 and 4. all the things i have done and it still is the same. I have tried
2 diff heads and gaskets and one with silicone. I have replace both the
exh gaskets and verified steel is ok. The gas is fresh and tank freshly cleaned. Verified it is not to deep in run tank, it will run for about 10 seconds
and then it takes on water and dies. It seems to be to much water for a small crack to let in. Is there any way when i had the lower end off that a
water tube is out of place and causing this concern. What is nex to try before selling it for parts.

When the heads were off, did you check the cylinders for cracks? Has the motor been stored so it couldn't have had any freeze damage?

No way for the water tube or anything from the mid section down to be causing this.

If this is a bubble back, the long bolt in the middle can break and let water in through the exhaust to the lower main area.

dosnt most of the water drain out when its been sitting, i dont think
its a bubble back the exhuast plate is all flat. What about the power head
gasket. to replace it just remove the power head huh. i dont want to give up, i dont see any cracks in the cyl walls and all cyls have equal compression.

You know, a good idea might be to send it in to a place and have them look at it for an hour, someone elses brain might figure it out, and if they can it would be more than worth the 80 bucks your spent paying them for your time. Frustration can kill you.

Just an idea
Try disconnectiong the water hose going to the thermostats, connect a garden hose to it so u can back fill the heads with water, have ur plugs removed and look into the cylinders with a flashlight to see if you can find the water intrusion.

You should be able to se if the water is coming in through a crack in the cyl walls or gasket.

also just because different heads werew tried does not mean they ar not out of tolerance, didi you havethem surfaced? lay a sheet of glass on them to se if they are flat and not concave?

hopefully it is just a minor warped head problem, I have never seen a block warp at the heads but always a first time for everything.

Try double gasket the head and se if this stops the water intrusion, this will let you know if there is a warped head problem. good luck
