really stiff steering to one side ?

i have volvo penta 572 a dp-c the steering is really sticky once you stop turning the wheel if you continously are steering it is fine and smooth once you stop though it is kinda stuck and you have to give it a jerk especially to the left is there anything ican do to help this ? fluid level is good is there a grewase fitting or anything else

Are the belts all tight and in good order, and the power steering pump is spinning all the time and not jerking from a loose belt?

Yeah spins good like I said it steers fine while wheel is turning but when you stop for a few second and try turn again you have to give it a jerk the only thing is the alternator belt keeps working loose I can't keep it tight but pump is spinning good looks like to me
