Here is a kind of a question-
I have a 99 Merc 4.3 L 2 bbl. that I keep meticulously maintained.
I run this motor pretty fast (3800-4000 rpm) for an hour or so at a time on the river. Maybe 2 hours total over a weekend. The rest of the time, I run it around 3500 rpm, for the other 2 or 3 hours over a weekend.
Do you think I am drastically reducing the life expectancy of this motor or was it designed to handle it?

What RPM do you usually run at?

I am unable to find out much info about the subject.
