I am putting the lower end back on my Alpha One 2nd Gen and have downloaded the manual. I just want to make sure of one thing before I do this job.

There is no gasket between the lower unit and the upper unit, right? Also, is it necessary to put any type of sealant between these two parts? I did not see evidence of any when I took them apart.

Thanks in advance.

There is no gasket... but there is an important "quad ring" - which is like an o-ring. It seals the oil passage between the upper and lower.

Like Fishermark said and dont forget to replace the lower shifted in the same direction as the upper is shifted into. fw or rev. so the lower shift shaft lines up correct with the upper.

Just sow you know, you will need the drive and the shift lever at the helm both in fwd gear to get the drive back on.
