rebuild 260 hp or increase to 300 hp

I picked up a 32' uniflight sport fish ( my girlfriend made me do it....really ) one engine is blown the other runs great but looks terrible. should I rebuild to original specs of 1978 or should I increase hp to about 300 hp????? would have to increase compression a bit probly around 9.5. since I plan on doing both motors now is the time to consider the extra power??? not sure if it needs it as I only piloted it once on one motor to haul her and ran 1500rpm for ten minutes

I think this is really a matter of opinion.. Sure, you can if you want to.. you'll probably burn a little more gas, and get around 4-5 mph more out of the boat if you change the props. If you don't change the props your hole shot will be better but you won't see much of a change in speed. It all depends what your goals are..

btw, what engine/drive package are we talking about?
