I will hopefully be cracking the case open on the '99 Mercury 115 elpto today...#4 hole is dead. I plan on rebuilding it and would like to know a good place for a rebuild kit given it is a fresh water motor and in good shape. I will have the machine shop mic the bores and see what I will need. I believe the stock pistons are cast and wondering if tolerances are acceptable, to do a hone and go with a forged piston? Or, if they are in really good shape to reuse the pistons with a hone and new rings...thoughts? I don't think the engine was over heated and wondering if the roller bearings would be okay to reuse? I plan on rebuilding the carbs, the water pump and checking the thermostat.

bwguardian, I am not exactly sure what you mean by a rebuild kit, but to me it is a gasket kit or in the case of a carb, gasket + small parts. If that is what you are looking for, then look right here on iBoats. I just looked up your engine and saw a carb kit and block kit. Hope this helps.
