I have a 1999 Evinrude Fitch 175, that I blew all six cylinders. I trying to decide to invest the money into rebuilding this with the upgrade kits, or cut my loses and buy a good old fashion Carborated Model 2002 150 HP. I know I lose the fuel injection and the horsepower but are rebuits as good as new? The shop it is at is very reputable. Any guidance

JPC, I THINK IF IT WERRE ME I WOULD REBUILD OR REPLACE THE POWER HEAD ASSY. WITH A NEW ONE . IF DONE PROPERLY A REBUILD IS JUST AS GOOD AS NEW . BUT BEFORE I SPENT MY MONEY I WOULD CONTACT BOMBARDIER AND ASK WHAT THEY COULD DO FOR ME . I KNOW YOUR MOTOR HAS NO WARRANTY LEFT ON IT, BUT THEY HAVE DONE THINGS TO HELP OTHER FICHT OWNERS THAT WERE LEFT WITH OUT ANY WARRANTY . YOU MAY BE ABLE TO GET THEM TO SELL YOU A 2002 POWERHEAD AT A DISCOUNTED PRICE , THE FICHTS ARE GOOD MOTORS AND HAVE DONE WELL OUNCE ALL THE UPDATES WERE INSTALLED . IF YOURS WAS NOT UPDATED THEN THAT IS PROBABLY WHY IT FAILED . THEY MAY DO NOTHING FOR YOU (WHICH I DOUBT) JUST DON'T EXPECT THEM TO DO IT AT NO CHARGE AT ALL ,BUT EITHER WAY A PHONE CALL IS A SMALL INVESTMENT FOR WHAT MAY TURN OUT TO BE SOMETHING THAT SAVED YOU ALOT OF MONEY ,AND ALSO GAVE YOU A GREAT MOTOR IN RETURN .
