My old engine is a mercruiser mcm, non vortec with 12 bolt intake, one piece rear main seal, non harmonic balancer and steel oil pan.
My new engine is a reman vortec balancer shaft engine with one piece main seal and aluminum oil pan.
My dilemma is can I use the flywheel from the non balancer engine on the engine with balance shaft,it will fit but will it vibrate?
And for some reason the dipstick wont fit from my old engine,it clearly hits something on the way, turning or bending does get it a bit further.Turning the crankshaft has no effect.I actually hit something pretty hard once it started slipping in,hope I didnt break anything. What could be in the way of it going in all the way?
Otherwise the new engine looks sweeet
,performer manifold, hge alum manifolds, red ignition wires and a bunch of new parts.
Another problem.
I have the thunderbolt iv ignition,it should be set to a initial 8 btdc.My problem is that this new block has the plastic cover that only has one mark.I assume this is tdc for cyl number one.How can I adjust the ignition to 8btdc when it has scale like the old metallic cover had.
