Just this season Ive notice my 1977 evinrude doesnt want to start up after I shut it down from a good run. It seems to flood so im guessing the carbs are the cause .How difficult is it to rebuild ? I looked at the kit -doesnt seem like alot. Let me say im no shade tree mechanic . I did my first water pump last fall . Perhaps im going in over my head but ?

Re: rebuilding carbs

The hardest part is synchronizing the throttle butterflies when they're back on the motor and that's not bad. They're very simple carbs, like a big lawnmower carb. Nothing like car carbs. A manual would help. That would be a very wise investment if you're going to do your own work.

Re: rebuilding carbs

Generally carbs don't affect restarting on a well running outboard.Other things like overheat and spark issues will. Can you tell us more ?

DHP
