Rebuilding lower unit shift linkage

Has anybody done a rebuild on lower unit shift linkage on a Yamaha Vmax 200? If so how hard and do I need any special tools? I really don't want to spend $900 on a rebuilt init just for a linkage problem.

there is really not much linkage to rebuild.
post the full model number so we can identify which gear case we are dealing with.

Rodbolt the model# is a P200TLRX. I suspecting the shift cam may be bent ? Just guessing. It wont turn.
