rebuilt carbs now having problems

i have a 1985 140 hp johnson i was having problems with it at low idle. the compession was good and i had good spark so i rebuilt the carb. Now when i start it the engine sound like it runsaway like starting it in full throttle. Any help would be greatly appreciated

If installed, remove the carburetor face plate, then look into the carb throats to view the throttle butterflies. At idle, both should be closed. Are they?<br /><br />If not, I'd susspect that the linkages between the carburetors are incorrect.<br /><br />Also the scribe mark on the cam that slides against the carburetor throttle roller, should engage the roller when that scribe mark is dead centered with the roller... not before or after.
