Re: Rebuilt carbs....now it won't even idle?
Yes, it is getting fuel. When we put it in the water and it wouldn't start we ended up taking of the carburetor covers. My buddy put his hand over the carb and we cranked on the motor and when he took his hand off, a lot of gas came out. So I'm pretty sure it is getting gas. The primer bulb is also staying hard if that means anything.

I'm gonna check the needle valve and the float tonight. Make sure everything is set right.

The intake gaskets are brand new. Just replaced last night.

It's the last part that you said that is troubling me:

"Try squirting some gas from a spray bottle into the carb intake while cranking ans see if it fires. If so, Either the carb isn't getting fuel into it, or the idle passage is plugged or leaking air."

When I took the carbs off I followed the book step by step. I think I made a mistake of taking out the "idle tubes" and not measuring how far down they were. But when we tried to take the seat out (gold piece that has a flathead notch on it and the idle tubes lean against) the idle tubes were blocking us from using the flathead screwdriver notch to losen them. So we used a pair of pliers to losen the old seats from the inside of the carb. So when we put in the new seats, we put the idle tube in what looked to be the same spot as before. To where we can't use the flathead to losen the seat. Does anybody know the measurment on how far the idle tubes are supposed to be and is the exact positions of the idle tubes that important? Do I have any room for play? Can I be we'll say a 1/16" off and it will work?
