Rebuilt - Power Head

I was surfing for outboard parts the other night and I came upon a website that offers to rebuild your powerhead with a lifetime warranty. They offer to rebuild your 3/Cyl Mercury block for $1295 with shipping both ways. Has anyone ever done any work with boatpartstore com? It sounds too good to be true!

I looked at that website when I was needing a rebuilt powerhead.<br /><br />So, if I were to buy a rebuilt powerhead from them and in 30 years it broke down on me, they would replace it.......I'm not biting that hook!<br /><br />A quote on the warranty page that says warranty does not cover blah blah "or other scenerios out of our control" That statement alone is open to all sorts exemptions on warranty. Considering that this is a legitimate warranty, I'm shure you would have to "PROVE" that something in the engine faild due to "THEIR" poor workmanship.<br /><br />Just my opinion

That warranty is no better than any other one.If it breakes they are going to say it was not there falt. Also they are charging 2 times what it should cost to rebuild A Mercury inline6. But they have a pretty good troubleshooting guide for new DIY'ers.

Going back to IBFishings comments . . . If the motor lasted 30 years without a rebuild I wouldn't complain, and I wouldn't bother trying to collect on it. Bottom line, I have decided to buy a new motor and hopefully I won't have to worry about any problems. If I do have a problem at least I know who I will be contacting. Thanks for your responses.
