Recent Tune-up and Autoblend Removal; Pre-Mix Questions Before I Hit the Water

I just had a new stator put in my 1986 Mercury 1150, plus all three carbs rebuilt. All three floats turned out to be bad, so they were replaced as well. My mechanic advised me to remove the Autoblend system, so I did that last weekend. I just had a few questions before I get out there on the lake on Saturday.

1. When I mix the gas, it should be 50:1, right? That is 1 pint per six gallons. The outboard mechanic told me that he mixes his at 1 pint per 5 gallons just to have a little extra lubrication. He said it never fouls the plugs. My question is this: does anyone else out there run a little extra oil in their gas for insurance?

2. What is the best way to mix the gas? My boat has a non-removable gas tank. Should I: a) pour the oil in before adding gas; b) pour the gas in and then add the oil; or c) bring a 5 gallon gas can and mix the oil and gas in the can before filling the tank

3. I understand that WOT on this motor is 5000-5800 RPM. However, when I am out on the lake the boat will go all the way to 6200, maybe 6400 RPMs. Should I get a higher pitch prop to bring the RPMs down? It already has a 19 on there. That seems like quite a bit of prop for a 16' bass boat with a 115 hp motor...

4. Should I spend the money for Quicksilver brand TCW3, or is the cheap stuff OK? My Autoblend that has been removed has oil still in it. However, I added the Quicksilver synthetic blend to it when I first got the boat. I would say it has 50% Quicksilver synthetic blend, 50% whatever. Is it ok to reuse?

5. Final question: what type of gas should I use? Around here they have 87, 89 and 91 octane.

Thanks for y'alls help on this one. These might sound like dumb questions, but I DO NOT want to do anything to blow up this motor...

1. i run 50:1 in my merc and have never had a problem it was also injected but i took it off
2. i either add oil then gas or if im not sure how much gas it will hold i just mix it in a can
3. yes i would get a higher pitch to bring the rpms down to WOT if you dont it might cause problems later down the road
4. i am not sure about the oils ive always ran quicksiler

A 50 to 1 oil mix is correct and I always use higher octaine fuel because of the ethenal in todays gas. I put a half pint oil in the tank then 3 gal. gas then the other half pint and another 3 gal. gas inorder to get the oil mixed with the gas when I fill the tank. Most any oil with a TCI 3 rating will work for oil gas mix. As for the oil left in the injection tank. I would drain it and disconect and insulate the wire from the sending switch and use the oil for fire starter as it could be bad. Just keep and eye on the enrichment valve as it will some times stick and not work correctly with the E10 gas that can cause the older rubber lines to deterate. If the motor starts fouling plugs you can go to the next hotter plug or put them in as some of the Etech motors are to shourd the plug tips from direct fuel flow.
I would definatly go to a higher pitch prop, you are over reving the motor and will surely have big problems or just run it at the 5500 RPMs recommended and not any higher as long as you are sure your tach is right.
You might want to check the HP rateing on the boat as most 16' boats are not rated for that big of a motor.
